John P. Ferraris

Dr. John Ferraris came to UTD in 1975 after a two year appointment as an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at NIST in Washington, D.C. He has been Chemistry Department Head since 1995, and has served as Interim Dean of Natural Science and Mathematics since 2003. In 2001, Dr. Ferraris was the recipient of the prestigious W. T. Doherty Award given by the DFW Section of the American Chemical Society.

Dr. Ferraris also maintains an active research group and has been the PI or co-PI on over $6M in extramural contracts and grants from federal, state and private sources since 1992. Research in the Ferraris group focuses on the design, synthesis and characterization, and application of novel electroactive organic materials including electrochemical capacitors, light emitting polymers and organics, nanostructured hybrid membranes for high temperature fuel cells, and electrochromic polymers.

Dr. Ferraris has over 150 publications and 10 US patents/applications.
