My research interests are functionalization carbon nanotubes, which includes both non-covalent functionalization and covalent functionalization. For non-covalent functionalization, we use designed peptides systems to increase carbon nanotubes’ solubility in aqueous solutions and study interactions between carbon nanotubes and peptides for various applications including sensors and drugs. For covalent functionalization, we are trying to modify the surface of carbon nanotubes and incorporate them into polymer matrix to form novel nanocomposites .
