Guidelines for Establishing Partnerships

Complete international partnership proposals must meet the Principles for Establishing International Partnerships and the International Education Development Committee (IEDC) requirements, using IPD templates. Complete proposals must be submitted to [email protected].

If the sponsor requires support to strategize a potential international partnership or renewal, the sponsor is welcome to complete and submit only the IPD Fact Sheet to [email protected], requesting guidance from IEDC.

International Higher Education Institutions that would like to partner with UT Dallas are encouraged to foster a relationship with UT Dallas faculty, followed by the submission of a partnership proposal to the International Education Development Committee (IEDC).

IEDC Requirements
Letter of Intent Draft of the Agreement General Description of the Proposed Partnership Program Evaluation (only for partnership renewals)
  1. Signature(s) from the academic dean and, if applicable, program head.
  2. Statement verifying that the proposed program complies with the established guidelines for international partnerships.
  3. Appointment of academic sponsor and program coordinator for the partnership.
  4. Description of how the partnership objectives align with UT Dallas vision and goals.
  5. Request for International Education Development Committee (IEDC) review.
  1. The draft of the agreement without signatures. Signatures from the UT Dallas Dean, UT Dallas Provost or President, and proposed partner institution must be collected after IEDC review.
  2. For Student Exchange Program Agreement (SEPA) proposals, include the Articulation of Transfer of Credits.
  1. Institutional details and partnership structure.
  • Level of partnership:  University wide or school specific.
  • Public or private status of the partner institution.
  • Ranking and accreditation of the partner institution.  Note:  identify web site with relevant information or attach documentation.
  • Total student population of the partner institution, including proportional distribution of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Degree programs offered by the partner institution, and transferable credit available, if applicable.
  • Language(s) of instruction.
  1. Description of any historical or current academic relationships between UT Dallas and the proposed partner institution. Note publications, faculty exchanges, workshops, and visits, as applicable.
  2. Any other relevant information.

  1. Any changes to the existing agreement or partnership structure.
  2. Any other relevant information.
If the International Partnership focuses on student exchange mobility, a complete evaluation will also include:
  • Current student exchange balances (incoming and outgoing) between UT Dallas and the partner institution.
  • Current degree programs offered by the partner institution, and transferable credit available
  • Language(s) of instruction.
If the International Partnership focuses on research / academic collaboration,  a complete evaluation will also include:
  • Academic and/or research outcomes, including publications, students’ graduation rate and average GPA, and/or faculty mobility since formalization of the partnership.
If the International Partnership focuses on Dual Degree Programs or Degree Programs, a complete evaluation will also include:
  • Changes in admission requirements for students to participate in the dual degree program.
  • The number of students and average GPA for the following groups:
    • Students who have completed the dual degree program.
    • Students currently participating in the dual degree program.
